MELROSE FIREFIGHTER ARRESTED FOR USING STOLEN IDENTITY

In a surprising turn of events, a Melrose firefighter has been arrested and is now facing federal charges after it was discovered that he had been using a stolen identity to secure his job. The incident took place in Melrose, Massachusetts, a quaint town known for its tight-knit community and picturesque surroundings.

IDENTITY THEFT UNCOVERED

The City of Melrose confirmed that a man, known only as John Doe, had been hired at the fire department under the name Henry Huang. However, federal prosecutors revealed that this was not his real name, and that he had actually stolen the identity of a 13-year-old who had passed away over two decades ago.

Residents of Melrose were shocked by the news, with many expressing their disbelief at the situation. One resident, Izzy Beausoleil, shared her concerns, stating, “If he showed up to my house and he’s just some random person that’s not who he says he is, it’s just, like, why are you not who you say you are and you’re trying to help people? I just think it’s weird.”

EXTENSIVE USE OF FALSE IDENTITY

According to the criminal complaint, the man had been using the identity of Henry Huang for several years, even obtaining a driver’s license under that name in 2018, 2019, and 2023. It wasn’t until he applied for a passport in March 2023 that his true identity came into question, prompting a federal investigation. The Registry of Motor Vehicles also revealed that the man had been issued a second driver’s license under a different identity in 2018.

When approached for a statement, no one answered the door at the man’s residence on Friday afternoon. Melrose Mayor Jennifer Grigoraitis informed 7News that the firefighter had been placed on leave pending further investigation. The man was arraigned on multiple charges in federal court on Thursday.

This incident has left the residents of Melrose in shock and disbelief, as they grapple with the revelation that someone they trusted to protect them may have been living a lie. The tight-knit community is now left to wonder about the true identity of the man who had been serving as a firefighter in their town.
