Four people have tragically lost their lives and nine others have been injured in a devastating accident involving three vehicles at Devaramane Cross near Banakal in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district on Friday. The deceased, identified as Hampaiah, 65, Prema, 62, Manjaiah, 65, and Prabhakar, 45, were all from Channapatna near Chikkajajur in Chitradurga district. The injured victims include Nagarajaiah, Manjunathaiah, Akkamma, Prathisha, Mallikarjun, Nandish, Umesh, Shivaleela, and Nayana. The accident occurred during a family trip from Holalkere taluk in Chitradurga district to Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district, with one vehicle colliding head-on with a MESCOM truck from Mudigere. The Banakal police responded quickly, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.

The deceased have been identified as Hampaiah, 65, Prema, 62, Manjaiah, 65, and Prabhakar, 45, all hailing from Channapatna near Chikkajajur in Chitradurga district. The injured individuals are Nagarajaiah, Manjunathaiah, Akkamma, Prathisha, Mallikarjun, Nandish, Umesh, Shivaleela, and Nayana.

The Incident
A group of 16 family members from Holalkere taluk in Chitradurga district embarked on a trip to Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district using two passenger vehicles. The tragic accident unfolded as they were returning to Chitradurga. One of the passenger vehicles collided head-on with a truck owned by MESCOM, which was en route from Mudigere. Subsequently, the second passenger vehicle following behind crashed into the wreckage.

Upon receiving distressing reports of the accident, the Banakal police swiftly arrived at the scene and promptly transported the injured individuals to the nearest medical facilities for urgent treatment and care.
