A Topeka man, David Arthur James, 45, has been charged in connection with a robbery in East Topeka. The incident, reported earlier this month, involved James allegedly beating up a victim, stealing his phone and wallet. Police found the victim lying in a driveway and apprehended James without incident. He faces charges of aggravated robbery, domestic battery, intimidation of a witness or victim, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, and cultivation with intent to distribute stimulants. James is also facing traffic-related charges from 2023. He remains in Shawnee County Jail on a total bond of £111,000, with his next court appearance scheduled for Aug. 1. Robbery Charges Filed Against Topeka Man
A Topeka man has been charged in connection with a robbery that took place earlier this month in East Topeka, authorities have confirmed.
Incident Details
The incident, which occurred on May 17, was reported in the 1600 block of S.E. Morrison in East Topeka. Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of a victim who had been assaulted and robbed.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying in the driveway, claiming that he had been beaten up by an assailant who also stole his phone and wallet.
Suspect Apprehended
Following an investigation, authorities were able to locate and apprehend the suspect, identified as David Arthur James, 45, of Topeka. James was taken into custody in the 1500 block of S.E. Morrison Street without further incident.
Charges Filed
The Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against James in connection with the incident. He faces charges of aggravated robbery, domestic battery, and intimidation of a witness or victim.
In addition, James is being held on charges of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon and cultivation with intent to distribute certain stimulants.
Court Appearance
James is currently being held in the Shawnee County Jail on a total bond of $111,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on August 1.
