Tragic Hit-and-Run Incident in Pune
Amidst a wave of demands for justice following the tragic deaths of two Information Technology (IT) professionals in a hit-and-run incident, the Pune City Police took a significant step forward in their investigation. The incident, which took place in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, involved a 17-year-old driving a Porsche who fatally collided with the two victims who were riding a bike.
Police Question Grandfather of Accused Teen
As the investigation unfolded, the Mumbai Crime Branch, responsible for probing the case, summoned the grandfather of the accused teen for questioning. This move was part of a concerted effort to gather more information about the events leading up to the tragic hit-and-run incident. The police also questioned the father of the accused, adding another layer of complexity to the investigation.
Sequencing the Events
In a bid to piece together the sequence of events on the night of the incident, the police also summoned the accused teen’s driver and friend for questioning. By interviewing all individuals involved in the case concurrently, the authorities hoped to gain a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding the tragic collision.
Role of Witnesses
One crucial aspect of the investigation involved making the driver of the Porsche a witness in the case. It was revealed that on the night of the incident, the accused initially intended to let his friend drive the vehicle. The teen’s father, along with the owners and manager of the bar where the accused had been drinking prior to the incident, were detained by the police. Continuing Investigation
Following the questioning on May 23, the police requested the juvenile’s grandparent to appear before the Crime Branch for further interrogation. The suspects in custody were due to appear before a court on Friday, May 24, where a decision would be made regarding the extension of their custody to gather more leads in the case.
