Anwarul Azim Anar : Illegal Immigrant Kills Bangladesh MP in India – Firstpost

The case of the shocking murder of a Bangladesh MP continues to unravel as more gruesome details emerge. Anwarul Azim Anar, a Member of Parliament from Bangladesh, had travelled to Kolkata on 12 May and reportedly went missing a day later. He was later found dead in New Town on Wednesday, 22 May.

Chilling Details of the Murder

The West Bengal CID has detained a Bangladeshi national named Jihad Hawladar, a butcher by profession and an illegal immigrant living in Mumbai, for his alleged involvement in the murder of the 56-year-old MP. Shocking revelations from the investigation have shown how the crime was meticulously planned and carried out.

Sources with direct knowledge of the incident claim that the politician’s friend, Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen, is believed to be the mastermind behind the heinous murder. Hawladar, along with four other Bangladeshi nationals, allegedly killed Anar at a flat in New Town by strangling him on Akhtaruzzaman’s orders.

The Crime Scene

Police suspect that the MP could have been lured into the New Town flat by a woman and then murdered by contract killers. CCTV footage showed Anar entering the flat with a man and a woman, but he was never seen leaving. Hawladar confessed during interrogation that they deskinned the body, removed all flesh, minced it, and disposed of the body parts in different locations within Kolkata.

The CID found blood stains inside the flat, plastic bags believed to be used for dumping body parts, and evidence that the body was mutilated after being strangulated. Messages were sent from Anar’s phone to confuse his family and friends after his murder.

Investigative Findings

The initial probe revealed that the MP’s friend had paid around Rs 5 crore to those involved in the crime. The flat in New Town where Anar was last seen entering was rented out to his friend by an excise department employee. Anar, who arrived in Kolkata for medical treatment, went missing on 13 May and was found murdered six days later.

Anar, a member of Parliament representing the Jhenaidah-4 constituency in Bangladesh, had a controversial past with criminal cases against him. Despite being cleared of charges after becoming an MP, he had faced accusations of smuggling, weapons possession, and extortion.

The investigation into Anar’s murder continues as the CID seeks to verify statements, recover missing body parts, and bring all those involved to justice.
