The recent arrest made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police sheds light on the mysterious death of Bangladeshi Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar. Anar was last seen at a rented accommodation in New Town near Kolkata on Wednesday, where the chilling crime took place.

Sources close to the investigation reveal that the arrested suspect was hired by the victim’s friend, Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen, who orchestrated the heinous act in his rented accommodation.

The accused, Jihad Hawladar (24), a Bangladeshi national and a butcher by profession, was brought to Kolkata two months prior by Akhtaruzzaman, the mastermind behind the planned murder.

Details of the Gruesome Murder

During interrogation, the accused confessed that on Akhtaruzzaman’s orders, he and four other Bangladeshi nationals suffocated and killed Anwarul Azim Anar in the flat. The brutality did not end there.

They proceeded to deskin Anar’s entire body in the flat, removing all flesh and mincing it to obliterate any identifiable features. The remains were then packaged in polybags, bones were cut into pieces, and everything was disposed of at various locations in Kolkata.

The arrested suspect will appear in court today in Barasat, where police will request his remand to corroborate his statement and locate the missing body parts.

Current Investigation Progress

Preliminary investigations into the murder of Anwarul Azim Anar unveiled that a substantial sum of approximately Rs 5 crore was paid by a close friend, a US citizen, to eliminate him. The rented flat in Kolkata’s New Town area, where the MP was last seen, was leased by the friend from an excise department employee.

The well-planned nature of the murder indicates a premeditated scheme. Further probing is underway to unravel the intricate web of deceit surrounding the case.

Anar’s disappearance on May 13 in Kolkata culminated in a tragic discovery, as his mutilated body has yet to be recovered. The CID found bloodstains and potential evidence inside the luxury condominium where Anar was last sighted.

Police suspect that Anar was strangled before being dismembered, with body parts scattered across different locations. Samples have been collected, including remnants potentially stored in a refrigerator.

Search for the Missing MP

The quest to locate the missing MP commenced six days after his last known whereabouts were traced to New Town. A complaint filed by Gopal Biswas, a resident of Baranagar and an acquaintance of Anar, prompted the investigation.

Anar had stayed at Biswas’s residence upon arrival in Kolkata, leaving for a doctor’s appointment on May 13. However, his unexplained absence on May 17 led to the filing of a missing person report.
