Drive-By Shootings Rock Loranger Area

Over the weekend, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate two alarming drive-by shooting incidents that took place in the Loranger area. The incidents occurred on Louisiana Highway 40 near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 445, sending shockwaves through the quiet community.

First Incident

The first incident occurred on Saturday, May 18, around 11:23 p.m. A victim reported to deputies that she was driving on LA-40 when she noticed a vehicle approaching from behind with hazard lights flashing. Concerned for her safety, the victim pulled over to the side of the road to let the vehicle pass. However, things took a terrifying turn when a small red car with tinted windows pulled in front of her and slowed down.

As the victim looked on in horror, she saw an arm extend from the front passenger window, holding a pistol. Shots rang out, aimed in her direction, as the perpetrator attempted to force her to stop. In a moment of sheer panic, the victim accelerated and managed to escape unharmed, but undoubtedly shaken by the traumatic experience.

Second Incident

Just two minutes later, another call came in reporting a similar incident on LA-40 east of LA-445. This time, a different victim recounted seeing an unknown Black man standing near a small red four-door car with hazard lights activated. As she passed the vehicle, gunshots rang out, striking her car. Miraculously, she too escaped unscathed, but the fear and uncertainty lingered.
