Teenager Arrested for Burglary in Downtown Nashville

A teenager was apprehended by authorities after a woman discovered a burglar inside her bedroom in a residential area near downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

Location of the Incident

The unsettling incident took place at a property situated off 2nd Avenue South near Chestnut Street in Nashville on the morning of Wednesday, May 22.

According to reports, the victim, who was asleep in her room, was startled awake by the presence of the intruder, later identified as 19-year-old Timara Adonica Becton.

Details of the Burglary

Upon waking up and realizing the situation, the woman immediately raised an alarm by screaming, calling 911, and alerting her roommate to secure their room as someone unauthorized was inside the house.

Despite the victim’s quick actions, Becton attempted to gain access to another room in the residence but was thwarted as it was already locked. Subsequently, she fled the scene before the authorities arrived, leaving behind a trail of stolen items.

Stolen Items and Surveillance Footage

The victims reported missing belongings such as important paperwork, valuable jewelry, handbags, wallets, and debit cards. Additionally, a vehicle along with its keys were also discovered to be gone from the property.

Surveillance footage from the area captured an individual outside the residence matching Becton’s description, providing crucial evidence for the investigating Metro police officers.

Apprehension and Charges

An officer on duty later located the stolen vehicle parked at a dead end on Trimble Street. Upon approaching the scene and activating their emergency lights, Becton attempted to flee on foot but was soon apprehended after a brief pursuit.

Following her arrest, Becton denied any involvement in the burglary, claiming she had been driving the stolen vehicle since earlier that day. However, officers discovered the victims’ missing jewelry in her possession, leading to her formal charges.

Legal Consequences

Timara Adonica Becton was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. She was subsequently booked into jail just before 2:00 a.m. with a bond set at $50,000.

Authorities continue to investigate the matter to ensure justice is served and the victims receive the necessary support in the aftermath of this distressing incident.
