New Delhi: Amid the nationwide outrage following the Pune Porsche crash, a similar incident took place in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, wherein a 15-year-old boy crushed four people to death with his car. The tragic event occurred on a fateful Tuesday night when a group of women were crossing GT Road near Maharajpur police station in Kanpur. The women, identified as Sarita (40), Poonam Pandey (40), Jyoti Tiwari alias Rupa (30) and Divya alias Chanchal, were taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
If reports are to be believed, this isn’t the first time the 15-year-old boy has been involved in a fatal accident. Last October, his reckless driving led to the deaths of two individuals. Following this latest incident, the teenager has been sent to a juvenile home, and legal proceedings against him in the previous case have resumed.
Speaking to a leading daily, Kanpur City Commissioner Akhil Kumar expressed his disappointment in the teenager’s family for allowing him to drive again despite his history of causing accidents. Kumar emphasized that the city police are taking decisive actions to address the issue of underage driving and urged the public to act responsibly.
According to police reports, the youngster was behind the wheel of a car on Tuesday night when he collided with the four women, causing them severe injuries. While the injured received immediate medical attention, the 15-year-old has been charged under IPC sections 279 and 338 for reckless driving.
In a surprising twist, the boy’s father, a prominent doctor in Kanpur, has also been charged in both accidents.

These recent events in Kanpur come at a time of national outrage following an incident involving a wealthy young individual who allegedly caused the deaths of two tech professionals while driving a Porsche under the influence of alcohol in Pune. The father, a well-known builder, has been arrested and is currently in police custody until May 24, following a directive from a sessions court. Additionally, the Pune crime branch has questioned the 17-year-old’s grandfather in connection with the case.
