2. Israel’s military operation in West Bank
The Israeli military confirmed on Thursday that it has wrapped up a two-day operation in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the deaths of 12 Palestinians and injuries to 25 others, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Operation Details in the West Bank
The military’s operation was carried out in the city of Jenin and an adjacent urban refugee camp as part of efforts to crackdown on militants in the area. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group reported that its fighters engaged in battle with Israeli forces during the operation.
Several militant groups have claimed that eight of the deceased individuals were fighters, including one from Hamas and seven from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, an armed faction of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party. The Islamic Jihad group also acknowledged that some of its fighters were among those killed.
Wissam Abu Baker, the director of Jenin Governmental Hospital, disclosed that one of the casualties was a surgeon at a local hospital, who was tragically killed while en route to work.

Escalation of Violence in the West Bank
Jenin and the adjacent urban refugee camp have historically been strongholds of armed resistance against Israel’s occupation, leading to a surge in military raids by Israeli troops, particularly during the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Since the commencement of the war in Gaza, the West Bank has witnessed a significant increase in violence. The Palestinian Health Ministry reports that over 500 Palestinians have lost their lives in the West Bank since October 7. Many of these fatalities occurred during armed clashes with military forces, while others were a result of confrontations involving the throwing of stones or explosives at troops.
Unfortunately, there have also been instances where individuals not directly engaged in the hostilities have been caught in the crossfire and lost their lives.
Israeli Drone Strike in Lebanon
In a separate incident, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency revealed that an Israeli drone strike claimed the life of one individual and left three school students injured while they were passing by in a bus.
The strike, which took place on Thursday morning, caused damage to the bus and destroyed a car on a road leading to the southern market town of Nabatiyeh. The wounded students were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The deceased individual was identified as Mohammed Farran, who was reportedly a member of Hezbollah, according to the organization. Notably, Israeli airstrikes have targeted and killed numerous Hezbollah members in recent months.
The exchange of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel commenced shortly after the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7. Since then, over 400 individuals have lost their lives in Lebanon, with the majority being fighters, but also including more than 70 civilians and non-combatants.
