Tragedy struck Mirpurkhas as a 40-year-old cattle trader, Mohammad Yusuf Leghari, fell victim to the scorching heatwave that has been gripping the city. The resident of Gulshan Colony collapsed in the cattle market due to the intense heat and was rushed to Civil Hospital, where doctors unfortunately confirmed his demise.

Efforts to Combat the Heatwave

With extreme heat persisting in Sanghar and its surrounding areas, various organisations, including political parties, social workers, and the district administration, have come together to set up heat stroke camps across different parts of the city. These camps are offering cold water and beverages to residents in an effort to mitigate the effects of the heatwave.

Community Leaders Urge Caution

Assistant Commissioner Tando Allahyar Faheem Shakir and Chairman Municipal Committee Syed Samar Abbas Shah Rizvi have issued appeals to citizens to limit outdoor activities to essential tasks only and to avoid unnecessary ventures. These appeals were made during visits to the heat stroke camps organised by the district administration.

Hyderabad Takes Preventative Measures

In Hyderabad, a joint session on heatwave awareness was conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioners, with representatives from Rescue 1122 and the District Health office participating in the session. The interactive session aimed to provide valuable information and address queries raised by students.

Specifically, districts like Sukkur, Khairpur, Jaccababd, and Shikarpur are expected to experience maximum temperatures of 47.5-48 Celsius. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a heatwave alert for the Sukkur division, advising concerned departments and district authorities to stay alert and prepared to tackle any contingencies.
