Vadodara: In the last three days, the city has been reeling under the scorching heat, with four suspected deaths due to the ongoing heatwave. All four individuals were rushed to the SSG Hospital after they complained of feeling unwell, but unfortunately, they did not survive. The hospital authorities have sent their bodies for postmortem to determine the exact cause of death.
Dr. Ranjan Iyer, the superintendent of SSG Hospital, commented on the situation, stating, “In summers, cases of heat-related emergencies tend to increase. While there has been a rise in such cases this year as well, it is not abnormal. Our staff is well-equipped and prepared to handle emergency cases efficiently.”
Among the victims, two have been identified as 77-year-old Mem Bahadur and 60-year-old Geeta Vaghela. Mem Bahadur was at home when he suddenly felt unwell and lost consciousness on Tuesday morning. Despite being admitted to SSG Hospital, he passed away during the course of treatment. On the other hand, Geeta Vaghela was at the railway station on Monday when she complained of chest pain and collapsed. Despite medical intervention, she also succumbed to the heat-related complications on Tuesday.
The hospital authorities are anticipating more cases of heatwave victims in the coming days and are prepared to provide necessary medical assistance to those in need.

In related news, authorities in Mexico are currently investigating the abrupt deaths of endangered Howler monkeys due to the extreme heatwave in the region.
