Stewart was seen entering the store with a hoodie, taking a toothbrush without paying, and snatching an iPhone 13 from an employee before fleeing. Despite his efforts to escape, he was apprehended by a BSO dive team. Stewart faces charges of strong-arm robbery and concealing his identity during a crime. He was uninjured during the incident and is currently not in custody.

As the employee attempted to chase after Stewart, he discarded the stolen items and jumped into a nearby canal. Despite attempts by deputies to coax him out of the water, a dive team was eventually called in to retrieve him.

Witnesses at the scene described the suspect’s behaviour as erratic, with one individual stating that Stewart expressed a desire to end his own life. Despite being uninjured during the incident, Stewart was examined by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel before being taken into custody.
