MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO) – A disturbing incident unfolded near a mosque in Minneapolis, leaving one man injured and another arrested in what authorities are calling a potential bias crime.

The unsettling events took place at the mosque situated at 116 32 Street W in Minneapolis. The location, typically a place of peace and community, was marred by violence on a Tuesday afternoon.

According to police reports, a 36-year-old man was in the mosque’s parking lot when a minivan suddenly approached him at high speed. In a panic, the victim attempted to flee, but the driver of the minivan deliberately swerved and struck him.

Following the hit-and-run, the assailant swiftly left the scene, leaving the victim in need of urgent medical attention. He was promptly transported to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment.

The Arrest

Later that evening, at approximately 9:30 p.m., law enforcement managed to apprehend the suspect, identified as 37-year-old James Suttles. Officers located him inside his vehicle, leading to his arrest.

Police Chief Brian O’Hara shed light on the case, revealing that investigators were already acquainted with the suspect due to his history of trespassing at the mosque and displaying erratic behaviour.
