Woman Arrested in Connection with Death of Man in Indianapolis

A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Indianapolis. The incident took place on the city’s near northeast side, specifically in the 3600 block of North Lasalle Street. The victim, 47-year-old James Milton Jr., was found inside a vehicle with injuries consistent with trauma. Unfortunately, Milton was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Identification of Person of Interest

Following the discovery of Milton’s body, detectives identified 40-year-old Montez Craig as a person of interest in the case. Craig was initially released after speaking with investigators but was later charged with murder by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office on May 17. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

Arrest of Montez Craig

Montez Craig was apprehended without incident on Monday in the 6100 block of North Keystone Avenue. The arrest was made following a thorough investigation by law enforcement officials.

Further Investigation and Arrests

Upon taking Craig into custody, police launched a separate investigation involving her and another individual, 42-year-old Julian Lee. The two were seen together at the time of Craig’s arrest. An IMPD Criminal Interdiction Detective and his police dog conducted a search of the vehicle the pair had been exiting.

The police dog detected the presence of a controlled substance, leading to the discovery of cocaine, marijuana, and evidence of drug dealing inside the vehicle. Both Craig and Lee were subsequently arrested for dealing in and possession of cocaine, as well as dealing in and possession of marijuana. The final charging decisions will be made by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
