The Porsche car, found without a number plate, was allegedly being driven by the teenager, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The Pune Police revealed that the father of the minor had instructed his driver to hand over the keys to his son whenever he demanded them. Despite claims from the father’s lawyer that the car was given to the driver and not the teenager, the police’s statement accessed by TOI tells a different story.

According to reports, the driver had called the father, expressing the teenager’s insistence on driving the car. Subsequently, the father instructed the driver to sit in the adjacent seat and allow the teenager to drive the vehicle.

Following the incident, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) cancelled the bail of the 17-year-old boy and remanded him to a juvenile home for 14 days. The Pune Police have filed a review petition before the Juvenile Justice Board, seeking to have the teenager tried as an adult for his actions.

Additionally, the father of the minor has been arrested for permitting his son to drive the car without a valid license. He has been placed in police custody until May 24. Furthermore, two bar owners have also been arrested for serving alcohol to the minor, who reportedly spent a significant amount of money within a short span of time at the bars.

Mother’s Plea for Justice

The mother of Aneesh Awadhiya, one of the victims, has expressed her anguish and called the incident a case of murder. She demanded strict punishment for the teenager and accused the boy’s family of attempting to shield him due to their financial status.

“They are people with money and think they can save their son. But my son died,” she lamented, urging the Maharashtra government to ensure that justice is served in this tragic case.
