CHICAGO (CBS) — Anthony Lane, a resident of Glendale Heights, has been sentenced to 58 years in prison for breaking into a home and sexually assaulting a 92-year-old woman in 2021. The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office made the announcement on Thursday.
The Incident
The incident took place on November 22, 2021, when the victim returned home from her dialysis appointment in Glendale Heights. As she entered her attached garage, she was confronted by Lane, who had entered her home. Lane forced his way in, bound the victim’s hands with duct tape, and sexually assaulted her in her bedroom before fleeing the scene.
Arrest and Trial
Following a two-day trial in January, Lane was found guilty of one count of home invasion and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault. Addison police arrested Lane on December 2, 2021, and he has been in custody at the DuPage County Jail since then.
Sentence and Parole Eligibility
Initially facing up to 120 years in prison, Lane will now serve 58 years and will have to complete 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole. He will also receive credit for the time he has already spent in jail.
