A 36-year-old Mayville man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after causing a crash in Richfield, Wisconsin. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received reports of the man driving over 100 mph on I-41 before causing a collision on State Highway 64. The crash involved a pickup truck and another vehicle, but thankfully, there were no significant injuries. If convicted, this would be the man’s fifth OWI offense. The sheriff’s office, along with Wisconsin State Patrol and Richfield Fire and Rescue, responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing. A Mayville man was taken into custody for driving under the influence following a collision on Thursday morning, May 23.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received reports around 11:05 a.m. regarding a white Ford traveling at excessive speeds exceeding 100 mph on I-41 and overtaking vehicles on the shoulder. Shortly after, another alert was issued about an accident on State Highway 64 near Pioneer Road in Richfield.

The same white Ford responsible for the speeding incident on the interstate was found to be the cause of the collision, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office. The 36-year-old driver veered across the centerline and collided with a pickup truck. The impact dislodged a tire from the truck, which then struck another vehicle.

Fortunately, there were no significant injuries sustained by any of the individuals involved.

The driver responsible for the crash was identified as a 36-year-old male. The sheriff’s office indicated that if convicted, this would mark his fifth offence of driving under the influence.

Aside from sheriff’s deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol and Richfield Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene of the accident. Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
