A man has been arrested in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area after running over a traffic police official, as reported by Express News. The incident took place on May 20 near the Saudi Embassy, where Traffic Constable Sadaqat was on duty.
Violation of Traffic Signal Leads to Tragic Incident
Constable Sadaqat signalled a vehicle to stop after it ran a red light. However, instead of complying with the traffic rules, the driver chose to accelerate the vehicle. In a horrifying turn of events, the driver did not stop even when the constable stepped in front of the vehicle, resulting in him being run over.
Brave Constable Hangs onto Bonnet
The impact of the collision caused Constable Sadaqat to be thrown onto the bonnet of the car. Despite the danger he was in, the brave constable managed to hold onto the bonnet as the driver attempted to flee the scene. Another policeman on a motorcycle recorded the entire incident on video as the driver tried to evade arrest.
Driver Apprehended by Traffic Police
After a brief chase, the traffic police managed to stop the vehicle and apprehend the driver, identified as Ali Hassan, son of Malik Bashir. The suspect was taken to the Gizri Police Station, where he faces multiple charges under the Pakistan Penal Code for his reckless actions.
