A 15-year-old girl is currently facing charges in relation to a series of robberies that took place on a CTA Red Line train on May 10. The girl, who remains unnamed due to being a juvenile, was apprehended on Sunday after being identified as one of the suspects involved in the robberies and assaults on Red Line passengers. Chicago police disclosed that she was responsible for attacking and robbing a 29-year-old man on the train around 10:40 p.m. near the first block of West 79th Street. Following this incident, just after midnight, she targeted a 22-year-old woman near the first block of West 95th Street. Subsequently, at approximately 2:20 a.m., the girl assaulted and robbed a 21-year-old woman near the first block of West Cermak Road.
The young woman, who works at a casino and opted to remain anonymous for safety reasons, shared her harrowing experience with the Sun-Times. She recounted boarding a southbound train at the Cermak-Chinatown station on her way home from work when she was approached by four females who initiated what seemed like a friendly conversation. However, things took a dark turn when one of them abruptly demanded her sweater. Upon her refusal, they began to physically assault her by hitting her face and head. The victim, caught off guard by the sudden attack, fought back but was overwhelmed as they proceeded to steal her black Sony headphones. In a desperate attempt to escape, she disembarked the train at the 47th Street station, while the assailants remained onboard. The victim was subsequently taken to St. Bernard Hospital for medical attention, as confirmed by authorities.
