In response to this information, Sterling Police Department’s school resource officer and detectives were called in to investigate the situation.

The Unrelated Traffic Stop

Simultaneously, an unrelated incident unfolded near Sterling High School. A traffic stop was conducted for a routine violation, leading to the discovery of a loaded firearm in the possession of a 40-year-old man named Jesse L. Hall. With safety concerns mounting due to the proximity of the traffic stop to the school, the police requested SPS to activate their crisis plan.

The Lockdown and Charges

To ensure the safety of students and staff, Sterling Public Schools went into a districtwide limited-access lockdown until it was confirmed that the two incidents were unrelated. Jesse L.
