The Tragic Accident in Davao de Oro

Three military personnel from the 25th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (PA) met a tragic end in a road mishap at Sitio Boston, Barangay Andap, New Bataan in Davao de Oro. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, May 18, has left the community in mourning.

The Fallen Heroes

The deceased individuals were identified as Private First Class Jaynor Makakua, the driver of the military truck, and two members of the Cafgu Active Auxiliary, Reynald Balaga, and Ferlan Conception. Their untimely passing has deeply saddened their colleagues, friends, and family members.

Injured Soldiers Under Treatment

Six soldiers who were injured in the accident are currently receiving treatment at the Davao De Oro Provincial Hospital-Montevista. Among them are 1LT Fidel V. Castro, Sgt Michael E. Arzaga, Cpl Emil Joy S. Mission, Pvt Jonel C. Alvarado, CAA Jay Ar Bale, and CAA Kim Ardel Castro. Their road to recovery is being closely monitored by medical personnel.

The Cause of the Accident

According to a report from the 10th Infantry Division (10ID), the KM 450 military vehicle of the 25th Infantry Battalion was on its way to provide security for a groundbreaking ceremony and the signing of Inter-local Agency Partnership Agreement (Ilapa) at Purok 12, Sitio Boston, Barangay Andap when the tragic incident occurred. The vehicle lost control while traversing an inclined road, causing it to roll backward and fall into a river.

An Ongoing Investigation

As of press time, the military unit is conducting an intensive investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Major Ruben Gadut, spokesperson for the 10ID, stated that the engine of the military truck reportedly shut off, leading to the driver losing control of the vehicle. The findings of the investigation will shed more light on the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
