Unlicensed motorcyclist arrested under postrelease community supervision in Alameda County

An early morning motorcycle accident on May 12 led to the arrest of a man named Dana Harper. Harper, who was pushing a stolen 2016 SYN Wolf Classic motorcycle down Moraga Avenue, was found to be unlicensed and under postrelease community supervision for a homicide in Alameda County. The incident occurred in the quiet neighborhood of Piedmont, where officers quickly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan checked Harper for injuries and discovered his unlicensed status. A records check revealed Harper’s criminal history and his association with the stolen motorcycle. Additionally, a search of Harper uncovered suspected crystal methamphetamine in his possession. Following medical evaluation at Valley Care Medical Center, Harper was taken into custody and booked at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin for possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, and a parole violation.

In another incident on May 11, a stolen Hyundai Elantra crashed into a pole on the corner of El Cerrito and Magnolia avenues in Piedmont. The vehicle was reported to have been traveling at a high rate of speed before losing control. Witnesses reported seeing two individuals, possibly juveniles, fleeing the scene and later spotted in a resident’s backyard on San Carlos. Despite police efforts, the suspects were not located, and the stolen vehicle was towed for further investigation.

During the early hours of May 15, Piedmont police received an alert from the city’s Automated License Plate Reader system regarding a vehicle on Linda and Kingston avenues. The vehicle, wanted for an evasion of police incident in Emeryville, was stopped on Grand Avenue. The driver was detained, leading to the discovery of 115 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a glass pipe, and $600 in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail for further processing.

On May 16, officers encountered a man sitting hunched over on a bench on Grand Avenue in Piedmont. A background check revealed outstanding bench warrants from Berkeley for indecent exposure, loitering, and possession of paraphernalia. The man was taken into custody for processing at the local police station.


Stolen vehicle involved in hit-and-run incident evades police

On the evening of May 14, a stolen black 2010 Infiniti G37 failed to yield at the intersection of Bayo Vista and Oakland avenues. Subsequently, the vehicle was found unoccupied at the intersection of Olive and Oakland avenues after colliding with a parked vehicle. Despite a thorough search of the area, the driver was not located, and the vehicle was towed for further investigation.
