In Midtown Manhattan, a suspect was shot by his accomplice during an attempted necklace theft, according to the NYPD. The incident occurred near 12th Avenue and West 50th Street around 4:25 a.m. Three men got out of a white vehicle, attacked a 35-year-old man, and attempted to steal his necklace. When the victim tried to escape, one of the suspects opened fire, shooting 21-year-old Benny Polanco in the leg and chest. Polanco sought treatment at NYU Langone Medical Center and was charged with multiple offenses. The other two suspects, dressed in all black, are still at large. Attempted Necklace Theft Turns Violent in Midtown Manhattan

In a shocking incident in Midtown Manhattan, a suspect was shot by one of his accomplices during an attempted necklace theft on the early morning of April 28. The NYPD reported that the incident took place near 12th Avenue and West 50th Street around 4:25 a.m.

The Incident

According to authorities, three men emerged from a white vehicle and attacked a 35-year-old man in an attempt to steal his necklace. As the victim tried to break free, one of the suspects opened fire, injuring his own accomplice, identified as 21-year-old Benny Polanco, in the left leg and chest.

Despite the chaos, the victim managed to escape without any injuries, and his necklace remained safely with him.

Arrest and Charges

Following the shooting, Polanco sought treatment at NYU Langone Medical Center and was promptly taken into custody by law enforcement. He now faces charges of attempted murder, robbery, assault, gang assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Meanwhile, the two other suspects involved in the incident were last seen wearing all black attire. The NYPD is actively seeking information from the public to help in their apprehension.
