Tragic Porsche Crash in Pune Leads to Harsh Punishments

In a devastating turn of events, a 17-year-old boy driving a Porsche Taycan in Pune has been involved in a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two motorcycle-borne IT professionals. The incident took place in Kalyani Nagar, a bustling area known for its residential complexes and commercial establishments.

The Maharashtra Transport Commissioner, Vivek Bhimanwar, has taken strict action against the young driver, announcing that he will be barred from obtaining a driving licence until he reaches the age of 25. This decision comes after it was revealed that the permanent registration of the Porsche had been pending since March due to non-payment of a registration fee of Rs 1,758.

Details of the Incident

According to reports, the luxury car involved in the accident had been imported by a dealer based in Bengaluru and was operating on temporary registration. When the vehicle was presented at the Pune RTO, it was discovered that a specific registration fee had not been paid, leading to the cancellation of its temporary registration under the Motor Vehicles Act.

State transport officials clarified that road tax is exempt for electric vehicles in Maharashtra, and the registration fee for the Porsche Taycan was a mere Rs 1,758. However, due to the owner’s negligence, the vehicle was not returned to the RTO for final registration, leading to the tragic incident.
