Bengaluru, May 21: A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday at the Jungle Trialz resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where a 35-year-old nurse lost her life in a ziplining accident. The zipline cable snapped, causing the nurse, identified as Ranjitha N, along with three others, to fall. The resort is now under scrutiny for alleged negligence in safety measures.
The accident took place around 11:15 am at the Bettahalli village resort near Harohalli in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district. Ranjitha, who hailed from Attibele, had visited the resort with 18 colleagues from the private hospital where she worked. She leaves behind her husband and two children.
Following the tragic incident, the Harohalli police took action against the resort’s management. An officer from the Harohalli police station reported that Ranjitha was halfway across the 100-meter-long incline when the cable gave way. She was immediately rushed to Dayanand Sagar Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A colleague of the deceased, Nirmal, lodged a complaint that led to the registration of a case under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code. The complaint highlighted the lack of basic safety equipment, including helmets, and the absence of a first-aid center at the resort. Nirmal stated in the grievance that Ranjitha’s head injury was fatal. The resort’s manager, Putta Madu, has been arrested in connection with the case.
