The incident claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman named Palak, a dedicated physiotherapist, and left her companion, Tarun Kumar, battling severe injuries. Palak and Tarun were among the first guests at the newly inaugurated Hotel Moon, which had just opened its doors on Akshay Tritiya on May 10.
According to Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Pal, the fire quickly escalated out of control as the hotel staff attempted to tackle the flames on their own before contacting the fire department. Despite the efforts of ten fire tenders dispatched to the scene, the blaze had already engulfed the fourth floor of the six-storey building by the time it was brought under control.
