How The Juvenile Secured Bail in Record Time

In a surprising turn of events, a juvenile court granted bail to the teen driver within a mere 15 hours post the incident, under certain conditions. The court directed the teenager to familiarize himself with traffic regulations and collaborate with the Traffic Police for a period of 15 days. Additionally, he was tasked with composing a 300-word essay on the societal repercussions of road accidents, along with potential solutions.

The court’s decision to grant bail was influenced by the belief that the severity of the crime did not warrant the denial of bail to the teenager, who reportedly has connections to VVIPs.

Furthermore, the court mandated the teen to undergo a psychiatric assessment and seek rehabilitation at a de-addiction facility. He was also required to deliver a presentation on traffic regulations before the Juvenile Justice Board, with an emphasis on assisting future road accident victims.

Legal Action Against Father and Bar Establishment

Meanwhile, a member of the investigative team disclosed that legal action is set to be taken against the father of the teenage driver of the luxury car involved in the fatal accident in Pune, as well as the bar that served alcohol to the minor. The 17-year-old driver was apprehended following the registration of a case against him, and subsequently granted bail within 15 hours by a juvenile court.

“In connection with the accident, charges will be pressed against the father of the accused and the bar that provided liquor to the juvenile/accused under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act,” stated Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar.

Under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, an individual in actual control or custody of a child can face punishment for willfully assaulting, abandoning, neglecting, or abusing the child, resulting in mental or physical harm. Section 77 pertains to the provision of alcohol or drugs to a child.
