Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Pleasantville Shooting

A man from Atlantic City is facing charges of attempted murder following a shooting incident that occurred in Pleasantville on Saturday, leaving a 31-year-old man injured, according to authorities.

The suspect, Marlon Chiles II, allegedly fled the scene of the shooting at around 11:30 a.m. However, he was apprehended by New Jersey State Police after they stopped his car on the Atlantic City Parkway, as reported by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim, identified as Andrew Miller from Pleasantville, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 300 block of West Park Avenue. Miller was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, although his current condition has not been disclosed.

Law enforcement officials were alerted to the shooting through ShotSpotter, a technology designed to detect gunfire in the area.

Chiles is currently being held at the Atlantic County jail pending a detention hearing. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he also faces firearms offenses and a charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Authorities discovered a significant quantity of the drug in his vehicle.

The investigation into the shooting is being carried out by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Pleasantville Police Department, with support from the State Police, Atlantic City Police Department, and the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department.
