On May 19, 2024, Michael Lamar Johnson, a 20-year-old suspect, was arrested and charged in a shooting incident that left Amy Dicks paralyzed. The shooting occurred on April 12 in Montgomery County, Alabama. Dicks, the victim, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries but was later confirmed to be paralyzed from the chest down. Johnson is currently detained in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on a $90,000 bond, facing charges of Discharging a Gun into an Unoccupied Building/Vehicle, Discharging a Gun into an Occupied Building/Vehicle, and 1st Degree Assault. Arrest Made in Shooting Incident Paralyzing Woman
A suspect has been apprehended in connection with a tragic shooting incident that left a woman paralyzed. Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey has confirmed to Action 8 News that 20-year-old Michael Lamar Johnson has been taken into custody and charged in relation to the shooting that took place on April 12.
The distressing event unfolded at approximately 1 PM on that day in the 5500 block of Atlanta Highway, situated near the intersection of Eastern Boulevard. The victim, now identified as Amy Dicks, was rushed to a local medical facility with injuries initially deemed non-life threatening. However, a few days later, the family issued a statement revealing the devastating news that Dicks had been paralyzed from the chest down as a result of the incident.
Currently, Dicks is undergoing treatment and recovery for her injuries at the spinal cord unit within the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
As of now, Johnson is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility on a bond set at $90,000. He faces charges of Discharging a Gun into an Unoccupied Building/Vehicle, Discharging a Gun into an Occupied Building/Vehicle, and 1st Degree Assault.
