The deceased, Mona Vishwakarma, from New Gandhi Palace, Sirpur, hanged herself early on Wednesday. She was engaged to Devendra Vishwakarma for five years. Investigations revealed that Devendra had been causing mental distress to Mona. The couple had a disagreement because Devendra objected to Mona posting photos on social media. On the night of the incident, Devendra arrived at Mona’s residence and began banging on the door. When she did not respond, he resorted to throwing stones and forcibly entered the house, as captured by CCTV footage in the neighbourhood. Mona’s family handed over the DVR recording to the police, leading to the registration of a case against Devendra under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code. Raju, a relative of Mona, revealed that she was pursuing weaving as a hobby and tragically ended her life by hanging herself in her room around 3 am. Her family discovered her lifeless body the following morning, highlighting the deep depression she had been experiencing due to issues with her fiancé.
