A Bangladeshi pilgrim who traveled to Saudi Arabia for Hajj has passed away in Madinah, as confirmed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The deceased, identified as Md Asaduzzaman, died on May 15, marking the first Bangladeshi death during this year’s Hajj journeys. A total of 27,111 pilgrims have made the trip to Saudi Arabia for Hajj, with 3,747 under a government travel package and 23,364 opting for a private package. Flights carrying pilgrims have been arriving in Saudi Arabia, with 68 flights recorded so far. The Hajj is expected to commence on Jun 16, with a total of 127,198 people eligible to undertake the journey this year.

A heartbreaking incident has occurred in the holy city of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, where a Bangladeshi pilgrim named Md Asaduzzaman has passed away during his journey for the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The news of his death was officially confirmed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in a bulletin released at 3am on a somber Saturday morning.

Asaduzzaman’s untimely demise marks the first Bangladeshi casualty in this year’s Hajj pilgrimage. A total of 27,111 pilgrims from Bangladesh have embarked on this spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia, with 3,747 opting for the government travel package and 23,364 choosing to go through private Hajj packages.

These pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia on 68 flights, with 25 flights operated by Biman Bangladesh, 23 by Saudi Arabian Airlines, and 20 by Flynas. The anticipation for the commencement of the Hajj pilgrimage on June 16 is palpable, pending the sighting of the moon.

Registration and Flight Details

This year, a maximum of 127,198 individuals are eligible to undertake the sacred journey of Hajj. However, only 83,218 people have registered for the pilgrimage through the government’s Hajj portal, with 4,323 availing government packages and 78,895 opting for private packages.

The inaugural Hajj flight for this year took off on May 9 operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, while the final pre-Hajj flight is scheduled for June 10. The return flights for the pilgrims are slated to begin on June 20 and conclude on July 22.
