Family Seeks Justice for Hit-and-Run Victim in White Center

The quiet neighborhood of White Center, Washington, was rocked by tragedy last month when a hit-and-run incident claimed the life of 81-year-old Thomas Joseph Garrett. The family of the victim is now speaking out, seeking justice for their loved one.

On the night of April 22, authorities responded to reports of a hit-and-run at the intersection of Southwest Roxbury Street and 15th Avenue Southwest. When they arrived at the scene, they found Mr. Garrett severely injured and rushed him to Harborview Medical Center. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The King County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Mr. Garrett was struck by a silver Jeep Compass, which fled the scene of the accident. Thanks to diligent detective work, the authorities were able to track down the vehicle and identify the driver, a 37-year-old man.

The suspect was apprehended during a routine traffic stop in the Puyallup area, where he confessed to moving his Jeep to Port Orchard and concealing it under a tarp at a relative’s residence. He was promptly arrested and booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of the fatal hit-and-run.

The suspect’s identity has not been disclosed pending formal charges from the King County Prosecutor’s Office. Detectives have recovered the Jeep as evidence and are processing it to gather more information about the incident.
