The Ogun State Police have apprehended a suspected male cultist, Ishola Joseph, at Bode Olude Junction, Abeokuta, following a cult clash that resulted in the death of one Segun. SP Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest, stating that a group of cult boys caused chaos at the junction. The patrol team quickly responded to the distress call, finding Segun with a slashed wrist. Ishola Joseph was caught by the public and is currently under investigation. The Inspector General of Police has launched the Complaint Response Unit and the Technical Intelligence Unit in Ogun State for improved policing and accountability. The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a suspected male cultist, Ishola Joseph, at Bode Olude Junction in Abeokuta, following a recent cult clash that resulted in the tragic killing of one Segun. The arrest was made possible by the swift action of members of the public who intervened in the chaotic situation.
Upon receiving a distress call on Tuesday, May 14, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the police patrol team quickly responded to the scene at Bode Olude Junction. They discovered the lifeless body of Segun, also known as Ojo Ibo, with his right wrist slashed by the cult boys. The suspects, numbering about six, had arrived at the junction on three motorcycles and pursued the deceased with a gun, causing panic among bystanders.
Fortunately, brave members of the public were able to apprehend one of the culprits, identified as Ishola Joseph, from Owu Baptist Church in Totoro, Abeokuta. With the assistance of the Assistant Commissioner of Police patrol team and the anti-cultism unit, the area was thoroughly searched, and the deceased’s body was taken to Ijaiye State Hospital for further examination.
The case is currently under investigation by the Divisional Crime Branch, and the police have assured the public that updates on the matter will be communicated in due course.
