A 41-year-old man has been arrested for a deadly shooting near a fruit-packing plant in Lodi, as reported by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, 27-year-old Jorge Cortes Bejar, was shot and killed while working at the Rivermaid Trading Company. After a search and a perimeter set up by law enforcement, the suspect was apprehended and a firearm was recovered. Arrest Made in Connection to Lodi Shooting

A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting near a fruit-packing plant in Lodi, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident took place at the Rivermaid Trading Company on East Pine Street, where the suspect allegedly shot and killed 27-year-old Jorge Cortes Bejar while he was working on the property.

Suspect Facing Multiple Charges

The 41-year-old suspect is facing charges related to murder, felony possession of a firearm, and the prohibition of a street gang member owning or possessing ammunition. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on Wednesday morning.

Response by Law Enforcement

Deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to reports of the shooting on Monday night at 10 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found Bejar with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite attempts at life-saving measures, Bejar was pronounced dead at the scene.

The following night, the Manteca Police Department located a vehicle linked to the suspect near Louise Avenue and Airport Road. The officer followed the vehicle until backup arrived, and the suspect was positively identified as the shooter.

Arrest and Recovery of Firearm

After initially complying with law enforcement, the suspect fled the scene. A perimeter was set up by Manteca police, and San Joaquin County deputies, along with a helicopter from Stanislaus County, joined the search for the suspect. The 41-year-old man was eventually arrested, and a firearm was recovered.
