A Riverview man, Vincent Steele, has pleaded not guilty after being arrested for a road rage shooting incident in Palmetto, Florida. The 50-year-old is facing five counts of attempted murder for allegedly firing multiple shots into a vehicle during the altercation. The incident occurred when Steele’s BMW sedan collided with a pickup truck on Business U.S. 41. A pregnant woman, a passenger in the truck, was struck multiple times in the lower torso but her unborn twins were unharmed. Both the mother and babies are now in stable condition after surgery. Steele remains in custody, with a bond hearing scheduled for May 24.

Man Arrested in Palmetto Road Rage Shooting Pleads Not Guilty

A Riverview man, identified as 50-year-old Vincent Steele, has entered a written plea of not guilty in connection with a road rage shooting incident that occurred in Palmetto. The incident, which led to Steele being charged with five counts of attempted murder, took place in the 6900 block of US 41.

Details of the Incident

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Department, the road rage incident unfolded when the occupants of a pick-up truck were traveling north on Business U.S. 41, where it merges with U.S. 41. As the driver of a BMW sedan, later identified as Steele, attempted to pass the victim’s truck in the merge lane, their vehicles made contact, causing Steele to lose control and spin off into the grassy shoulder.

Upon stopping to check on the driver, Steele exited his vehicle, ran up to the victim’s passenger door, and proceeded to fire seven rounds at the victim’s truck. A 36-year-old pregnant passenger in the truck was struck multiple times in the lower torso, but thankfully, the unborn twins she was carrying were unharmed. The driver and a 9-year-old female passenger in the truck escaped physical injury.

Victim’s Condition

The injured passenger was swiftly taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital by the driver, where she was later transferred to Tampa General Hospital for surgery. As of the latest update, both the mother and the unborn babies are reported to be in stable condition.

Legal Proceedings

Despite remaining on the scene and cooperating with deputies, Vincent Steele was subsequently arrested. A bond hearing for Steele has been rescheduled to May 24, where further legal proceedings will take place.
