Anthony Russo of the Pasadena Police Department revealed that the deceased victims were men aged between 18 and 21, while the injured parties included two females and a male.
The vehicle involved in the crash was identified as a Tesla Model 3 sedan, which was travelling westbound on Foothill Boulevard at 2:35 a.m. Speed was cited as a contributing factor in the tragic accident, as the driver lost control at a curve, striking a curb and subsequently colliding with two city light poles, a utility pole, and a building.
Investigation into the Cause
Russo mentioned that there was evidence at the scene suggesting that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, although it was too early to determine if the driver was impaired or if any of the occupants were under the influence. Investigators are also looking into whether the Tesla’s autopilot feature was engaged at the time of the collision.
