An Aberdeen community is mourning the loss of a beloved teenager who tragically lost his battle with sarcoma. Oliver Park, a student at St Hilda’s High School, passed away on March 22, 2023, after struggling with persistent leg pain.
Devastating Diagnosis
Oliver had been experiencing leg pain for an extended period, which was eventually diagnosed as a malignant nerve sheath tumor, a rare form of sarcoma that is challenging to treat. Despite his brave fight, the disease ultimately took his life at the young age of 18.
Community Support
To honor Oliver’s memory and raise awareness about sarcoma, 65 teachers from St Hilda’s High School participated in a grueling 53-mile relay race. The event, which took place on May 4, raised an impressive £19,000 to support research and assist families affected by this rare cancer.
