PUTNEY — A local man has been arrested after allegedly trespassing at a Main Street business and violating conditions of his release, the Windham County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Incident

On April 24, a complaint was filed regarding an after-hours intrusion at a fenced-in business area in Putney. The suspect, identified as Bryan Wainwright, 34, of Brattleboro, is said to have scaled a barbed-wire fence to gain access to the property. Once inside, he allegedly entered vehicles on the premises, prompting concerns from the business owners.

The Investigation

Following the complaint, Detective Sgt. M. Checchi led an investigation into the matter. Through thorough examination, Checchi and his team found probable cause to charge Wainwright with unlawful trespass. Additionally, it was discovered that Wainwright had breached the conditions of his release, leading to further legal implications.

The Arrest

On April 29, Wainwright was apprehended at the Vermont Superior Court-Windham Unit by deputies from the Windham County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody without incident and has since been issued a criminal citation. Wainwright is now scheduled to appear in court at a later date to address the charges brought against him.
