Motives and Gang Affiliations

The authorities believe that grudges and a “gang war” are the driving forces behind the attack. The suspects, identified as members of the “Bloods gang”, allegedly sought revenge on the victims, who are affiliated with the “Crips gang”. This retaliation stemmed from a previous altercation where a Bloods gang member was stabbed near the victims’ location.

Gingoyon revealed that the two rival groups clashed during a fiesta in Mandaue City on May 8th, Wednesday, but dispersed when the police intervened. Subsequently, the victims traveled to Liloan, unaware that they were being followed by the suspects. The fatal shooting occurred in Liloan, leading to tragic consequences.

Legal Actions and Seized Evidence

During the arrests, B1 was found in possession of a 9mm firearm with six bullets. The firearm will undergo ballistic testing to determine its involvement in the crime, as law enforcement recovered 18 bullets and 4 bullet slugs from the crime scene. Complaints of murder, frustrated murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms are being prepared against Ugoy and the other suspects.

The investigation into the gang violence in Liloan continues, with authorities striving to bring justice to the victims and maintain peace in the community.
