In Madurai, the Sivaganga police have made a breakthrough in a two-year-old case of suspicious death, leading to the arrest of nine individuals. The case involved the discovery of a half-burnt body near Udayanur Kanmoi at Nemmeni village in Sivaganga on May 18, 2022. Following a complaint by Nemmeni VAO Suganthi, the police filed a case under Section 174 of CrPC (suspicious death). The accused, including R Ramesh and his associates, were identified after a special team was formed under the direction of DIG of Ramanathapuram M Durai and Sivaganga SP Dongare Pravin Umesh. The investigation revealed that the prime accused, Ramesh, had a brick manufacturing unit where the victim, Krishnasingh, was allegedly killed after being accused of theft.

The Case of Suspicious Death Unraveled in Sivaganga
Madurai witnessed a breakthrough in a two-year-old case of a suspicious death, as the Sivaganga police managed to crack the mystery and arrest nine individuals involved in the heinous crime. The discovery of a half-burnt body near Udayanur Kanmoi at Nemmeni village in Sivaganga on May 18, 2022, sparked a series of events that eventually led to the arrests.
Initial Investigations
Following a complaint by the Nemmeni VAO Suganthi, the Sivaganga Taluk police swiftly filed a case under Section 174 of CrPC, pertaining to suspicious deaths. The police force wasted no time in launching a thorough investigation into the matter.
The Accused
The alleged perpetrators, identified as R Ramesh, N Nithish alias Rithish, P Senthil Kumar, R Sakthi Vel, S Gopi alias Gopi Krishnan, A Mohanraj, T Venkatesh, R Yasin, and Thavamani, were taken into custody as part of the ongoing probe.
The Victim’s Identity
The charred body was identified as Krishnasingh, a migrant worker hailing from Bihar, who met a tragic end at the hands of those now under arrest.

The Sequence of Events
Investigations revealed that the prime accused, Ramesh, operates a brick manufacturing unit in Vaniyangudi. The unfortunate turn of events began when a mold plant went missing from Ramesh’s unit, leading to blame being placed on two individuals, including the victim, Krishnasingh.
Subsequently, both individuals were subjected to physical assault, with Krishnasingh losing his life in the process. The body of the deceased was covered with cloth and abandoned near Udayanur Kanmoi, where it was set ablaze using diesel fuel on May 16, 2022.
