The driver, identified as 29-year-old Cassidy Corness, was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol during a routine stop along Highway 11/17. Corness faces charges including Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, as well as Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration exceeding 80 mg. After processing, Corness was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on June 19, 2024. THUNDER BAY, ON – A late-night check by the Ontario Provincial Police’s R.I.D.E program has resulted in impaired driving charges against a local resident.

The Scene of the Incident

The incident took place in the early hours of May 9, 2024, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Thunder Bay OPP officers stationed along Highway 11/17 were conducting a routine stop as part of the ongoing Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) initiative.

During the stop, the driver, identified as 29-year-old Cassidy Corness from Thunder Bay, underwent a roadside alcohol screening test, which raised suspicions and prompted further investigation.

Charges Faced by Cassidy Corness

Following the investigation, it was confirmed that Corness was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. As a result, Corness now faces serious charges, including:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration exceeding 80 mg

After being processed, Corness was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on June 19, 2024.
