SEVERN, Md. – A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday as a high-speed pursuit led to a devastating crash into a vacant house in Jessup, leaving one person dead and several others with life-threatening injuries.

The incident commenced around 12:55 a.m. on May 6, 2024, when a patrol officer in Severn spotted a speeding vehicle on Annapolis Road near Reece Road and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle chose to flee, prompting the officer to discontinue the pursuit. Shortly after, a distressing 911 call reported a collision on Jessup Road.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the vehicle involved, a Lexus IS 350, was travelling at a high velocity on Jessup Road when it failed to navigate a bend, veered off the road, and collided with a vacant house.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Trayquan Edward Mckesson of Odenton, along with four passengers, were swiftly transported to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with severe injuries. Another passenger was taken to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Tragically, one of the passengers, Julie Michelle Nushawg, 26, from Pasadena, succumbed to her injuries at the trauma center.

Among the other passengers were Diamond Shanae Cole, 22, from Stoney Beach; Jayla Scotlin Smith, 23, from Baltimore; Dominik Lee Maddox, 21, from Upper Marlboro; and De’Andre Lewis-Queen, 23, from Glen Burnie. All individuals are currently in critical condition.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section is actively investigating the crash, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
