An MBBS student was caught appearing as a proxy candidate in the NEET exam in Rajasthan, leading to their detention along with five others. The student, Abhishek Gupta, was part of a racket run by his collegemate, Ravi Meena, who allegedly took money from the candidate, Rahul Gurjar. MBBS Student Caught in NEET Proxy Scam in Jaipur, Rajasthan

An MBBS student in Rajasthan was recently detained for appearing as a proxy candidate in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), a medical entrance exam. The incident took place in Bharatpur, a city located in the eastern part of the state.

Racket Uncovered in Government College

The MBBS student, identified as Abhishek Gupta, was reportedly part of a racket being run by his collegemate Ravi Meena. Meena had allegedly taken a sum of Rs. 10 lakh from a candidate named Rahul Gurjar in exchange for Gupta taking the exam on his behalf.

During the exam at the Master Adityendra School, Gupta was caught impersonating Gurjar by an invigilator, who promptly handed him over to the police. Gupta confessed to his involvement and revealed that he was accompanied by five others, all of whom were waiting in a car outside the examination centre.

Police Interrogation and Further Action

The Assistant Superintendent of Police, Aklesh Kumar, stated that all the accused, including Gupta, Meena, Gurjar, Amit, Dayaram, and Suraj Singh, are currently being interrogated. The police assured that further action would be taken as the investigation progresses.

NEET Candidates Face Language Mix-up in Sawai Madhopur

Meanwhile, at a NEET exam centre in Sawai Madhopur, some candidates raised concerns about receiving question papers in a language different from their chosen medium. Parents of the candidates alleged mistreatment by the police when they attempted to protest the issue.

In response to the incident, the National Testing Agency (NTA) issued a public notice acknowledging the “incorrect distribution” of question papers at the centre. They assured that affected candidates would be given the opportunity to retake the exam to ensure fairness and equal opportunity.

NTA’s Commitment to Fairness

“In order to uphold the principles of fairness and equal opportunity for all candidates, the NTA has taken proactive measures,” stated Sadhna Parashar, Senior Director at NTA. “The examination of approximately 120 affected candidates at the centre is being conducted today, ensuring that their academic aspirations are not hindered by this incident.”
