Five people have tragically lost their lives in road accidents in Metro Cebu. On Monday, May 6, a 24-year-old man named Mark Anthony Mabayo was fatally hit by a passenger bus in Barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City. Another incident in Liloan resulted in the death of a 34-year-old man named Deney Carado after his motorcycle collided with a private car. Additionally, a 65-year-old woman named Consolacion Rosal was killed by a trailer truck while crossing a bridge on the South Coastal Road. In a separate incident on the Cordova-Cebu Link Expressway, two women lost their lives and 18 others were injured when a van crashed due to a rear tire explosion.

CEBU CITY – Five individuals perish in road mishaps across Metro Cebu
Tragedy struck Metro Cebu as five individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents that occurred in various areas across the region. The incidents, which took place in Mandaue City, Liloan, Talisay, and on the Cordova-Cebu Link Expressway, have left the community in mourning.
Barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City
A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City, where a 24-year-old man named Mark Anthony Mabayo tragically lost his life after being struck by a passenger bus. The young resident of Barangay Jugan, Consolacion, was riding his motorcycle on M. C. Briones St. when the fatal accident occurred at 5:25 a.m.

According to authorities, a Ceres bus traveling in the opposite lane skidded out of control and collided with Mabayo. The impact threw the young man off his motorcycle, leading to his untimely demise. Mabayo was rushed to the Mandaue District Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Police suspect that the slippery road conditions caused by a sudden downpour may have contributed to the accident. The bus driver, identified as Rodney Juanillo, is currently cooperating with the investigation.
Liloan
In Liloan, another tragic incident occurred when a 34-year-old man named Deney Carado lost his life in a motorcycle collision with a private car. Carado, a resident of Barangay Looc, Mandaue, tragically lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the car in front of him. Despite efforts to save him, Carado passed away while being transported to the Danao City Provincial Hospital.
South Coastal Road
Tragedy struck on the South Coastal Road as a 65-year-old woman named Consolacion Rosal was fatally struck by a trailer truck while crossing a bridge between Cebu and Talisay. The victim’s body was tragically severed in half after being run over by the truck driven by Gregorio Geoco, 47. Geoco claimed that his view was obstructed by another vehicle, leading to the devastating accident.
Expressway Tragedy
The Cordova-Cebu Link Expressway witnessed a horrific incident when a van-for-hire carrying passengers crashed, resulting in the deaths of two women and injuries to 18 others. The tragic accident was caused by the explosion of one of the van’s rear tires, causing the vehicle to overturn. The community mourns the loss of these individuals and prays for the swift recovery of the injured.
