FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – In a distressing incident that has shocked the community, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Mt. Whitney and Chestnut Avenues near Laton. The report indicated deplorable conditions at the property, leading to a harrowing discovery.

Upon arrival, deputies found approximately 300 animals, including ducks and dogs, in dire conditions. Tragically, many of the animals were either deceased or severely malnourished. Adding to the distressing scene, four teenagers were also discovered living in what was described as a location resembling a landfill.

Central California SPCA Takes Action

Following the horrific findings, the Central California SPCA stepped in to lead the investigation. Three CCSPCA Humane Officers were quick to respond to the scene. Witnessing the animals in truly inhumane conditions, they collaborated with deputies and Fresno Humane Animal Services to remove numerous animals from the property.

Among the animals rescued were seven goats, including six kids (newborns). Tragically, one of the baby goats was in critical condition and had to be rushed to an emergency veterinarian. Despite efforts to stabilize the young goat, it was ultimately euthanized. The remaining kids were taken to a local vet for examination, where they were diagnosed with bacterial infections.
