Accident – Death – Obituary News : : 1. Morrison Drive collision update
2. Double-fatal accident Morrison Drive

Two women tragically lost their lives after being fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on Morrison Drive. Lizzy Zito and Arianna Gamber, both 20, were walking when a gray Acura veered off the road, ran over them, and continued driving without reporting the incident. Shockingly, the bodies were not discovered until seven hours later. The driver, Max David Gentilin, parked and inspected his car for damage before leaving the scene. This heartbreaking incident highlights the importance of responsible driving and the devastating consequences of negligence on the road. Justice must be served for these young lives lost. The car involved in the incident sustained damage to the passenger side, front, and had a flat passenger-side tire. Hair and blood were found underneath the vehicle. The driver, identified as Gentilin, was recorded asking himself what to do after inspecting the damage. Affidavits suggest that he abandoned the car and fled the scene without helping the victims. He later appeared for work at Hall’s Chophouse on King Street, arriving in a panicked state. The incident raises questions about his actions and the need for improvements in safety measures. The man’s behavior was described as “abnormal and out of character” in interviews. He left work early, claiming he had crashed his car. One of his managers mentioned in an interview that the man confessed to making a mistake and needing to handle a police matter related to the incident. The manager at Hall’s Chophouse did not confirm or deny the man’s employment status, redirecting inquiries to the restaurant’s attorney, Cherie Blackburn. The man’s behavior and actions have raised concerns and speculation about his involvement in the reported hit-and-run incident. Blackburn’s lack of response to a comment request before publication and Gentilin’s defense attorney expressing sorrow for the victims’ families were highlighted in a recent news report. Adams reiterated his condolences for the families affected by the tragic incident. Gentilin, charged with hit-and-run resulting in death, was granted a $300,000 bond and released from jail. The attorney acknowledged the long and challenging legal process ahead. The families of the victims, Zito and Gamber, continue to mourn their loss, with Zito’s graduation from the College of Charleston being a poignant reminder of what could have been.

Police arrived at the scene around 8:30 a.m. after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in the area. They found Gentilin, who identified himself as the driver, and noticed that the front passenger side of the vehicle was damaged.

After questioning, Gentilin admitted to hitting the two women with his car but claimed he did not see them until it was too late. He said he panicked and did not stop to check on them or call for help. Gentilin was arrested and charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

According to court records, Gentilin was released on a $200,000 bond, and a judge ordered him not to drive or leave the state of South Carolina without permission. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing in June.

Family and friends of Zito and Gamber are devastated by the tragic loss of the two young women. Zito was a student at the College of Charleston, studying business administration, while Gamber was a recent graduate of the same university.
