During the routine check on the disabled vehicle, troopers noticed the driver exhibiting concerning behavior, prompting them to call for assistance. Subsequently, an ambulance was dispatched to the scene, along with a Crisis Intervention Team-trained deputy from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.

Over the course of several hours, law enforcement and medics made various attempts to assist the individual, including offering crisis services, medical aid, and providing food and drink. However, the situation took a tragic turn towards the end when the individual revealed a hand-gun and began pointing it at the first responders, leading to the officer-involved shooting.
