RAYNHAM, Mass. — A tragic incident unfolded in Raynham, Massachusetts on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old man at the hands of the police. The man, identified as Stephen Maclean, was shot and killed by Raynham police officers after he brandished a loaded handgun at them from the doorway of his King Phillip Street apartment. Plymouth County District Attorney Thomas Quinn provided details of the harrowing event during a press conference later that evening.

The Incident

According to Quinn, Maclean opened the door of his apartment and pointed a gun at the officers who had responded to a call. In response, one officer deployed a taser while two others fired their weapons, fatally injuring Maclean. Fortunately, no officers were harmed during the altercation. Immediate medical assistance was provided to Maclean, and he was rushed to Morton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Quinn revealed that Maclean had been arrested the previous day on charges of intimidation of a witness and disorderly conduct related to a court case involving his girlfriend. Despite being released following his court appearance, Maclean was on probation for a previous operating under the influence case. The police were summoned to Maclean’s residence again on Tuesday after receiving a distress call from his girlfriend.
