Twelve Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers discharged their service weapons during the incident and have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Identification of Fallen Officers
The four law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the shootout have been identified as William “Alden” Elliott, Samuel “Sam” Poloche, Thomas Weeks Jr., and Joshua Eyer. Poloche and Elliott were veterans of the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, while Eyer served with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and Weeks was a Deputy U.S. Marshal.
